Researchers and practicioners
I am a practitioner or a researcher, how can I collaborate with BSAFE LAB?
A. BSAFE LAB Research team
According to article 3 of BSAFE LAB internal rules, the research team of BSAFE LAB is composed by:
a) full researchers;
b) associated researchers;
c) research partners;
d) assistant researchers
who, being or not affiliated to any other research lab, university or organisation, are willing to collaborate in the development of new research and technology transfer in the fields of law enforcement, justice and public safety in scientific areas ranging from arts & humanities, including law, history and philosophy, biological & medical sciences, physical sciences & engineering, social & behavioral sciences & education.
Your participation can take the form of:
a) the development of a new research project (involving public organisations, private sector and government agencies);
b) the technical and scientific supervision of master’s and PhD thesis;
c) the implementation of innovation demonstration actions (technology transfer pilots and experimentation playgrounds) involving SME’s and public sector agencies;
d) technical assistance provision to third parties (companies and government agencies).
B. BSAFE LAB Researcher statute
Our researcher statute considers:
1. “Full researcher” statute can be obtained by all PhD researchers that comply with the criteria established by the national agency for certification and evaluation of the Portuguese scientific system;
2. “Associated researcher” statute can be obtained by any other PhD researcher and researchers not holding a PhD whose scientific capacity has been recognised through curricula analysis;
3. “Research partner” statute can be obtained by PhD researchers that not being affiliated to the BSAFE LAB, contribute to a specific mission of the lab;
4. “Research assistant” statute can be obtained by any BSAFE LAB team member not holding a PhD degree, including any external expert appointed by public or private sector organisations that collaborate with the lab.
C. BSAFE LAB Interdisciplinary research groups
Interdisciplinary research groups will be created and will include researchers affiliated to different faculties, departments and functional units of UBI; but also representatives from SMEs, public agencies and NGO’s or other national or international research organisations whose affiliation to the BSAFE LAB may be authorised.
